| Job Description: |
This requisition is specifically targeted for current (incumbent) contractor employees supporting NCEP the NOAA/NWS National Centers for Environmental Prediction.
We are seeking highly-motivated individuals with the scientific knowledge and/or IT experience in:
- Weather and climate modeling
- Satellite data analysis and assimilation
- Systems engineering, development and enhancement of modeling applications
- Science systems verification and validation
- Performance tuning of large-scale operational applications.

| Required Qualifications: |
- Minimum of a BS degree in numerical land, atmospheric, or ocean modeling or a related field
- 2 years of relevant experience is required or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- Extensive experience in FORTRAN programming is required
- Must be very detail-oriented

| Desired Qualifications: |
- Master's Degree is preferred
- Applicants should possess 5-10 years of experience in designing, running, and analyzing output from standalone or coupled land, atmosphere, or ocean numerical models or data assimilation systems
- Experience in Python programming is highly desired, as is familiarity with relevant data formats (including NetCDF and HDF) and object-oriented software paradigms (e.g., ESMF)
- Expert knowledge of parallel computing processes and languages is also desired.
