NY STEM EXPO/Fair

Manhattan Armory, 168th & Ft. Washington

Manhattan, NY

The STEM EXPO/FAIR is an opportunity for ELLs and former ELLs, their teachers, and their parents to interact with organizations that have demonstrated success in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  The Keynote Address “NASA STEM Education: Students and Teachers Enjoying Every Moment,” was made by Dr. Frank Scalzo, Education Programs Specialist, NASA Education.

The EXPO/FAIR included:

  • Booths offering presentations, demonstrations, experiments, and hands-on activities
  • Tables with organizations, institutions, and universities presenting information on STEM careers in their fields
  • Workshop sessions exploring STEM careers for English Language Learners

NOAA CREST's morning session was lead by Dr. Brian Vant Hull, who demonstrated three hands-on experiments teaching principles of precipitation formation to curious atending students.  Dr. Vant Hull, assisted by two CREST graduate students, kept the visiting audiences busy and captivated, proving that STEM science learning is fun.  NOAA CREST's Associate Administrator, Mr. Ted Camp and three CREST graduate students manned the CREST information booth in the main forum, providing CREST summer programs information to interested High School students.
