Resilience has become a central paradigm in managing coastal resources and communities faced with the growing pressures of urbanization and climate change. Here, a brief overview of the central principles of resilience thinking will be presented and illustrated with specific examples from Jamaica Bay, NY. The Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay (SRIJB) role in building a community of resilience practice will be explained, followed by a discussion on opportunities for CUNY researchers to engage with the SRIJB.
